Well, here we are in wet old Warrnambool… not that bad
though as it was nice to have a sleep in and then have a ‘do nothing day’…
well, sort of! Bryn and Mark went out to have a quick look about town and
brought back some coffee and frappes which was a nice way to start the day.
Then, with the rain coming down most of the morning we took the time to laze
about, read, play games and watch some mindless shows on TV. After lunch we thought
we should at least have a look about to see what tourists do in this town but a
visit to the information centre revealed what had seemed fairly evident upon
arriving … there is not much to do in Warrnambool, particularly on Easter
Friday! Apparently the big tourist thing is whale watching but this is the
wrong time of year for that… so we drove about 15 minutes down the road to go
to the Allansford Cheese Factory – open 7 days a week – all year around…. Except
of course…. on Good Friday! Back into town and past a massive cemetery then
down to the foreshore and the adventure playground, where finally the boys
found some green space to kick the footy and a small canal/lake system to drive
a speedboat… yes, what is wrong with this picture:
You got it, that is Khi and Bryn speeding off into the
distance in a mini speed boat which they have full control over – there are no
guidance system or rules as such, just jump in and have fun. I had a bit of a
shudder as the image was a little too close to something I can imagine a few
years down the track when Khi gets his driving licence – scary stuff! They both
thought it was awesome however and I must say they did a lot better than the
two ladies who managed to run their boat aground at least twice that I saw!
